Happy New Year Everyone!

Hope everyone is well after the New Year celebrations. Our New Year's Eve was filled with happiness as my sister and I enjoyed ringing in the New Year together.
Quilting and future quilting projects was the topic of conversation, ( sort of ignored the men for a bit) He He He! because Simone brought me this beautiful gift..

A kit for the "Heritage Square" quilt by Miss Rosie's Quilt Company.. I was speechless and so excited I told "Jay" he would have to move over because I couldn't let go of my new gift and I would need to sleep with it.
My sister and I decided to get comfy and sew in our pj's , so off I go to get changed and there it was; "Jay" had placed my kit neatly on the bed....LOL
There is no better way to start off the New Year than with a new quilt project !

What has the CGQC club meant to me?

All my life I have enjoyed sharing my passions with people and embrace the opportunity to share my God given talents and to receive the same from friends. I am so amazed at how large my circle of friends has become since I have joined the Charming Girls Quilt Club. It has been an adventure "sans pareil" (beyond compare)! I look forward to continuing to connect with all of you in the New Year and delight in knowing that there is a support system out there who will fill my life with serenity, laughter, kindness, hope and friendship.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce to you our Charming Girl of the year... Michelle . I ask that you visit her blog and you will see why she is the recipient of this prestigious award. In her acceptance speech Michelle asked we join her in a toast to all the Charming girls and I toast to them for projects well done and over-the top support system. Thank you girls !

It would not be fitting if I didn't acknowledge all the friends I have made outside the CGQC; from "blogland". Quilting has brought together so many wonderful girl friends and I really believe that it has become a quilt guild in itself. Sharing our ideas and craftsmanship has opened so may wonderful insights in my quilting. When you live in a small community the opportunity to learn new ideas in quilting can be limited but through "blogland" those limitations have been eliminated. The experience my sister and I had at a workshop at the other end of the Province with designer Karen Neary in the fall was indescribable and has opened a new adventure for a yearly get-together week-end for my sister and I. How true the world has become smaller and having all of you just a click away is very comforting.

As the New Year arrives may you find your hearts filled with new hopes and happy with love. May it opens up new horizons and bring you promises of brighter tomorrows. Have a great New Year 2010.

This one is the donation I am making to our church for a raffle again this year.

Those were the projects I had submitted and happy to have in my finished stack.

Now on to the January projects... my list is long so I must choose because I have plans to keep my list of projects manageable this year with hopes that I won't have too many UFOs in my basket.

In what seems like a short moment; lots of happiness is enjoyed with family friends, along with laughter and good food..too much good food..even perfect winter weather.. None of the above was missing...

Christmas Eve and Émilie gets her gift from Grand-mère and grand-père.How do you get into this? Oh wow! I rock!

Even at 2o years old... Amy still looks forward to her gifts from "Gram" and "Gramp"And Laurène and Ariane are surprised because I turly believe they would never think grand-mère was in the new teck age and would know about a Nintendo DS
As long as they don't ask grand-mère and Grand-père to set it up.... Christmas day....everyone has arrived!the house comes alive with love and laughter...the oldest daughter.. "Yvelle" and Timmythe second daughter, "Liette" and DavidAnd the youngest son... "Adrien" and Monique... their first Christmas as husband and wife...
Grand-mère gets a surprise too.. from Amy and Émilie; a generaous gift certificate from??? where else??? would bring on that smile...

So now it is time to come down from all the chaocolate and the Christmas treats and get down to business. I have completed all my December projects and will post them shortly. Our church was filled with an unbelievable magic and an overwhleming peace and serenity, last evening at midnight mass.Christmas was in the air as we celebrated the birth The manger .... Notice the baby Jesus is laying on paper stars... those stars have our written wishes on them and were offered to Him at the mass. One of them has a special request from me... "To keep all my friends in "Blogland" safe and heathy .Soon we will put away the decorations; let us not put Him away in a box for next year... but place Him in our hearts for us to keep all year!

For all of you who answered the quiz ....you were right on target to guess: Lordy Lordy looks who's 40 ... Happy Happy 4oth year Kelly.
1969 was a very good year!!! That was year I was married.... When Kelly was born I was decorating our first home for Christmas. From personal experience; as the birthdays are added on it is kind of fun to be considered an "expert".

I have really enjoyed visiting all your blogs and seeing the beautiful projects you have made for the Secret Santa Swap. I keep telling "Jay" that I feel Christmas came very fast. I am usually finished shopping, baking, wrapping and delivering my gifts by now but last week when I looked at the calender I realized I had a lots left to do.

I have three secretaries, or assistants; they are called now... and they are very dear to me.. on my to-do list were quilting projects for them... I got right to business and managed to get these table runners done. You know how when you get a pattern that works well you just need to get more that one done? Well that is the case with this Braid Runner by GE Designs. Three of them all done!

And the third is made in "Trick or treat Smell my Feet" by Sandy Jarvais and matched other fabrics with it.

Now I can't decide which one should go to whom..Kathy, Shauna, or Laurie?.. so I put them in similar gift bags with no tags and will let them do the picking...

Dear Santa,

It has been a long time since I wrote you a letter and my letters to you were all in french "en français". Along the years I have enjoyed helping my children write their letters to you and now my grand-daughters. If you remember my gift requests were always crafts supplies, coloring books, paint sets, sewing and knitting kits. I remember one year jewellery kits were on my list and even a basket weaving kit, well things have not changed with the passing of the years. I still would like a gift that would compliment my favourite craft.. quilting. And here is the gift I would absolutely love... a fat quarter ofOr a fat quarter of.....

A Christmas Tag for the Charming Girls

When I was a little girl, (not too long ago) the week before Christmas my father would drive us all over the Community to see the Christmas decorations . What a magical moment for my two sisters and I!! This year I have relived those moments when I visited your blogs and admired your taste in Christmas décor...There are so many beautiful arrangements and in my book they would all be winners if there was a contest to pick the best..
So I am going to leave it up to you. A few of you have posted some of your decorated corners and it gave me the idea to tag you to post your special corner or your special decoration. You may have more than one, so by all means share them all..Of course your entries will be put in the draws for one of the two $25.00 gift certificates from Cotton Charm Here are mine...
This is my favourite corner.. Every year I display the pictures of my four grand-daughters on their first Christmas and in the book there are the photos of my children's Christmases when they were little. I have this on the end of my sideboard in the dining area of my kitchen with a miniature Nativity set. It is often the topic of discussion and certainly makes us reminisce the Christmases past.

This one is also one of my favourite in the living room where the book on the Birth of the Messiah encourages me to read about the meaning of Christmas.

I collect ♥Nativity Sets♥ ( can you tell?) and this one, in my family room, carved in wood, is very special. When my daughter Liette was 8 years old, she had gone with her cousin to the big city, Halifax, shopping and this is the Christmas gift she had bought me. I will cherish it forever!

Notice the little kitty cat figurine on the side? Just like my Christmas tree that is decorated with unbreakables at the bottom, on every table that I have ornaments I made sure I put a piece which would attract little Émilie to play with. She learnt immediately which ones she was allowed to touch and does not even look at the others on the tables. After all Christmas is not about Grandmas saying NO do not touch! To see their little faces light up is worth more than a figurine or a Christmas ball!

Sunday Project

You know how when you finish a project there are always leftovers? Well mine end up in a drawer and never never in the waste basket no matter how small the piece is. Of course these are great for appliqués and I do use a lot. However, I have made a

decision, even before the New Year, to use as much of the leftovers as I can immediately after I finish my projects This is why I decided to make some new place mats with fabric, by Sandy Jarvais, Holly Jolly, which I used to make my Secret Santa projects. For the next two weeks I will have several luncheon get-togethers, so these will be perfect .

The pattern came from the latest Quilter's World.. I decided to eliminate the holly appliqués, as I found it would be too busy,

Oh! my... a blizzard

My mother always told me be careful what you asked for...you may get it and not now what to do with it...

I asked for snow and would have gladly accepted a blizzard but only if I was in the comfort of my home and not on the road... what a drive home..... Whew! BUT the decorations are beautiful♥♥♥

Well 38 years ago it was a beautiful sunny day and my heart glowed as my second daughter Liette was born.. this is Miss Émilie's mom..

Émilie who loves to write was waiting for her mom after school with a hand made birthday card.... Liette is the principal at the Port Maitland Elementary School and an inspiration to me in many ways. She has not taken up sewing but loves cross stitch.

I am very glad we celebrated her birthday Sunday because tonight is not a night to venture out but a night for sewing preferably lap work.

Some of you asked for a close up picture of my angels... These are made with a mesh fabric ( the name of the fabric escapes me) which you wet and shape as you wish. Once its dry it is very stiff and holds its shape.

The year I made these I had made smaller ones for my whole Christmas tree for an angel tree!

It' begining to look a lot like.....

Yipee♥♥♥ snow.. I went from one window to the next to take in the sights of the freshly fallen snow in the early morning..

A perfect winter wonderland.

So maybe I will be able to wear these..

They are very hard to get... As soon as the Olympic torch passes through an area the mittens all go; so from here to Quebec ..forget it... there are none to be found.... but a good friend of mine happenend to be in Vancover and yes! they had lots. So Santa may have some in his sack after all....

Speaking of Santa.. I hope all you Secret Santas are enjoying visiting your partners blogs and hopefully your gifts are coming along well. I finished mine and it was shipped yesterday so I am hoping she will like it as much as I enjoyed making it for her. I know I asked you to e-mail me photos of your finished Secret Santa projects but hold on to them for now as I am still in the bog with my e-mail . Today is the deadline.. if Yahoo doesn't come through I will change my server.

Preparing for Christmas

Decorating for Christmas is not a painful task for me.....

Believe... This is one of my Christmas cards this year when I look into my life; I have many reasons to believe...........I believe in Angels... and there are many who touch my life everyday...

These angels on the side of the hearth, I made a few years ago and look forward to displaying them every Christmas. The chair awaits me with another "lap project" and at this time of the year the pleasure of doing lap work is enhanced by watching a Christmas Special on TV....

And this year, because of Miss Émilie (1 Year old) the ornaments on the bottom are all unbreakable.

But not only am I preparing for Christmas.. I am stocking up for the winter..my order from Cotton Charms arrived today, putting into place the ideas I have in my head for upcoming projects.....

Hello everyone!,
I guess I was too quick to report I was connected again...Wrong! My e-mail is still not working properly. My son is communicating with Yahoo to clarify this but until then I am unable to answer your much appreciated comments.
Some of you have asked how the "Hacker" could do this and how can you protect yourself from this happening? Well I have been informed there is nothing we can do to prevent this,. There are people out there who do not quilt, sew, bake or even think of the well being of others and they hack until they infiltrate someone's e-mail. Since this has happened to me I have heard of many people who experienced the same thing .. even the same letter. Yahoo froze my account so it shot down the possibility of anyone logging on in my yahoo mail until I changed my password. My contact list was deleted for that same reason, therefore I do not have any addresses in my address book anymore. I am very happy that I never sent my visa card number or any financial account numbers from my e-mail. When ordering on line make sure you go through the secure sites of the company you are ordering from and not your e-mail. I am hoping I will be able to contact with you individually soon.

I'm connected again

My e-mail is up and going again!
I want to thank all of you for the support in dealing with the "invasion of my privacy". As I mentioned it was not a good feeling and yesterday I spent most of the day answering the phone from friends calling me to see if I was alright. In the midst of feeling violated I was reassured that there are GOOD, CARING people out there and it lighted the darkness which lured over my happy thoughts . Thank you again everyone , the CGQC is more than a Stitch and B---- club, it is an amazing support system .

Hi everyone..
I am not in the UK and I do not need funds to come home ....apparently someone has infiltrated my Yahoo account and is asking all my contacts for funds, I just tried to log in my yahoo mail and it won't accept my password so I cannot access my mail.....I will keep you posted ..
My son a computer technician, just called to reassure my that my yahoo account has been frozen for 24 hours because they noticed the scam and are taking precautions. So this is why I cannot access my e-mail. It is an awful feeling to have someone use your identity( no matter how minimal) to do harm to others....): DO NOT SEND FUNDS.... I am not in the UK ...as I said earlier maybe Florida????
