Fall is in the air...

Grand-son Miguel enjoys the fall air.
 5 months old already

The Bernina Embroidery club project this month had
an autumn theme. A Happy Thanksgiving trivet.
 In-the-hoop project.

Getting ready for the workshop tomorrow at the guild. We are doing the Spinner table topper you see on my header. I have seen some of the fabric the members choose for their projects and I can't wait to see them all done.

Back to School and back to a routine..

The excitement of the first day of school is still very much alive in this family.  Our three adult children are all in the school system, Yvelle and Liette  are both teachers and our son Adrien is the computer technician for the Tri-County school board. As well our daughter-in-law is a school teacher but she is on maternity leave for this semester and of course the two Grand-daughters are in school. Laurène is going to Junior High this year :(  (They grow too fast) So needless to say the dialogue all week-end has been about the return to school.
For me back to a  routine is nice. I am still working and enjoying my life as a career woman. My retirement date has come and gone but I choose to work a bit longer because I love what I do.
Of course I could sew more.. but could I?
I do sew everyday!
What has been happening in my sewing room?

I went all out making the little clutch bags...

a project from the Bernina Embroidery club.
Shhh! I am going to use these for my Christmas gift cards....

Then I found this wonderful book by Jeanne Large and Shelley Wicks

                                              This project caught my eye

So I made it into a..

bed runner....
Machine appliqued
And machine quilted with designs from Leah Day

The Labyrinth is the next work in progress
Whew! this is one of those project where concentration is set at max. It is very tedious but it is going to be very beautiful. I love to work with batiks.
I am almost finished and I can't wait to see it quilted. I choose the hand quilting for this one to bring out the beauty of this piece. I think it needs that hand sewn touch!

I was going to say no school for me but in a way there is as I have classes the first Saturday of every month in the Bernina Embroidery Club. Dianne is a super teacher! It is on this Saturday at Knit and Stitch in New Minas NS and I will try to remember my camera..

Have a good "Back to School Week"♥♥♥

Fall is in the air and

lots of projects getting done in the sewing room!

Playing with the embroidery machine and
Napkins and coasters get done ...
Then it's time for new place mats.
My sister introduced me to this pattern

and I made 12 using the Wild Rose by Blackbird

I really like the shape of these. They fit so well on the table.

My second daughter Liette has been fond of Anne of Green Gables since she was a little girl and it it still holds true in her adult life. She has a collection of Anne of Green Gables paraphernalia so when I went to PEI, I found the fabric...

Perfect for place mats.. this is work in progress. I even think Anne inspired Liette to become a teacher ♥♥
So fall for me means a routine and lots of projects on my "want"
to-do list...
