On the eve of summer

This is the perfect quilt to make as we await the arrival of summer...

Summer Breeze by Kim Brackett.
I made it with the Collection for a Cause- Alliance by Howard Marcus Dunn.
You know once in a while you make a pattarn and you think, "I would love to make this one again" ? Well this is one of those projects.. I am certain it will be on my to-do list again.
Now it is off to the quilter for hand quilting.

Happy summer~!

New Project.. ...new line of fabric

Of course there was a lot of preparations that went into planning the Rose of Sharon.
Those of you who have followed my blog know how fond and dedicated I was to the KansasTroubles or Moda fabrics in general, so Batiks were not part of my stash..  poor me I had to go shopping...

It just happened that Quilt Canada came at the right time and the Merchant Mall had all kinds of choices in the Batiks.
I choose the yardage for the sashing

Then while I was browsing I saw this kit... well who can resist an appliqué kit from the Quilting B in Charlottetown PEI

When I returned home this had come in the mail from Keepsake Quilter. A surprise from my DH who had ordered it for me for Mother's Day but it had been out of stock .

I guess you can say I am all set for the summer, part of the fall and maybe into the winter!

Published...

La Guilde Acadienne was published in the Canadian Quilter's magazine.
with focus on our first anniversary and "Bring your daughter/ grand-daughter / niece to Sew"
What an honor!

Now on to my project.
Because of  my fondness for appliqué I have been wanting to do this quilt for a long time..
and now is the time to begin

My first block is done. I picked up the materiel for the sashing while I was at Quilt Canada and it really encourages me to get more blocks done. This is a perfect summer project as I can sit on the patio and hand appliqué my blocks. I hope we have a long summer season!  I love the looks of the Batiks.

La Guilde Acadienne goes on a trip

Off we go to Quilt Canada 2012 in Halifax NS
Here is the gang... What a fun trip...
Everyone on the bus received a "Catch Of The Day Bag" made by various quilt guilds in Canada. Mine comes from the Prince Albert Quilt Guild in Saskatchewan.
The red maple leaf (A great Canadian symbol was well displayed at the quilt show.

And the shopping... ahhhh! the shopping. Thank God we had a tour bus to take us back and all our treasures. ... As I said to the bus driver "Mitch" Precious Cargo aboard!
The trip was spectacular .. lots of laughs, good food and friendships made for life.  A quilter's heaven.
