A good read.............

Evelyn Dixon.....Initially, Abigail wanted to pick a more complicated pattern but with some prodding from me, finally chose a simple friendship star as the base block for her quilt.....

Evelyn Dixon ....Quilters are some of the most generous, caring community-minded people you'll ever meet....

I just finished reading this book and it is a number 1 on my list of good reads...

Check out Marie Bostwick's website for more of her books ...a new one just out! " A Thread so Thin"

Hand Quilting à la Joan

Star Trip is done!!!!! Yeah! I can't believe I did it! It would not win any quilting contest but what I am excited about is it gave me the bug to hand quilt some more.

The frames are disassembled until the fall ...

at which time I may attempt to be a little more adventurous and "maybe" quilt a pattern.

Tribute to Neil Diamond

Renette, (a friend since high school ) 's husband always wanted to perform a tribute to Neil Diamond.... this week-end he put his dream in action . And what a success!!! Three performances all sold out. When Norm was singing, if you closed your eyes you would not believe it could be anyone but the man himself... Neil Diamond... And the best part is; I even got a hug! My only regret is that I didn't get tickets for all three performances...): What a show! "Sweeeeet Caroline".. is ringing in my head..

It is part of the Acadian culture to have good food, great music and wonderful friends around the kitchen for the famous kitchen parties. Renette and Norm own and operate a B&B and keep this tradition alive. Many of their guests return for a visit just to enjoy the good company and good times "Su Ben" the Acadian way!

Tag... for the CG&GQC

Oh my! it's already the 15th of April.... where has this month gone?
How are your April goals coming along?
I am certain you will all be able to relate to the following disclosure:

Whenever I do my groceries there is one special detour I like to take from the grocery isles and that is to the magazine stand.
No not just any magazines but special MAGAZINES...Quilt magazines that is....

In January, being a new year, I sit down and decide which subscription I will subscribe to for that year...
These are my 2010 subscriptions.

What I would like to know is :

1. if you can relate to this, which magazines do you prefer? and

2. have you ever made any projects from those magazines? and

3. maybe you want to show us the project(s)?

My favourites ........ I have two....
These are the two subscriptions I renew every year. I not only like the patterns but they have a lot of informative techniques which are easy to follow. A very good "read".

I have made quite a few projects taken from my subscriptions and this is one of those projects..
Fabric... Cause for the Cure Heritage.

So post me a comment here; to let everyone know your answers to the tag and that you have them posted on your blogs.

For those of you who registered in thefor this Saturday,
I hope you have a fun and very productive day sewing together. I look forward to seeing those beautiful bags

Out of the frames!

Yes, it is out of the frames..... No! not the "Star Trip", I am quilting! But .. my "Stone Cottage"! Again Agnes did her magic! It is beautifully hand-quilted...

Don't forget to mark your calendar for the on April 17th that Kris from Dandelion Quilts is hosting with Kelly. Check out Kris's blog here: she has a tutorial for a really cute bag.

More information on how and where to register for the party will be announced shortly on those two blogs.

I'm afraid I will be missing the fun as I will not be joining the party this time around . I have another committment that week-end but I will be thinking of you all and anxiously awaiting the parade of projects .
Have fun at the party!

What have I been up to?

For the first time ever,I have been doing some hand quilting (or trying to) ... I tried two different size hoops and the one I liked the most was the one on a stand but now I am using my small frames which I like very much.

Oh! but the SORE fingers!!!! :)I really want to master this as I find it so relaxing.

My stitches are not even and some of my stitch lines are crooked but I will enjoy seeing this piece as I progess in this art... that is....I hope I progress ...):

April Goals

I am really trying to keep my goals light this month, but with all the beautiful projects you inspire me with it is so very hard. Every time I visit your blogs I get ideas for new projects! So here are my goals for April
One of those inspiration is the Schnibbles... I had never even heard of a Schnibbles pattern until I met you members of the CG&GQC .. so this will be my second one.....
Next....
I want to finish my Gatherings quilt pattern by Jan Patak.....( The free pattern can be found on here) I am making it with the "Blessings " fabric.
Next....
I will be making my Jelly Roll blocks ...

Next My BOM for the "Better By the Dozen": in the Kansas Winter fabric....

Next...
I want to quilt and finish these three table toppers I made for my DD Liette's school fundraiser

So there they are...... my goals for this month

For those of you who haven't let me know you have posted your goals yet can leave me a comment on this post.

Happy Sewing and thank you all for your continued support!
