A few finishes and a sale

There was mad race to finish this quilt so we could put away the frames
 with determination and co-operation
 it did get done
Beautiful front and back with the lovely hand quilting that went into this project
Clara on our last evening has the pedal to the metal and gets the binding machine sewn. Member Anna is going to sew it by hand and the SOLD sign goes on it.

Now onto my recent project
Scrap Happy Diamond little quilt

my strips are ready and all are Kansas Troubles scraps.

This is a foundation piecing project
 Lots of little strips
There is the diamond within the triangle
and here is one of the four squares.
all together .....makes a cute little quilt.
..... with Kansas Troubles scraps .......
ready to be sandwiched and machine quilted by Moi .

closing event with a flare......

but first here is another Karen Neary finish
Member Christina's  Diamond's Are A Girl's Best Friend
And her bargerllo table runner.

These are beautifully done and to think it is her first year quilting.

and so the guild closed its doors for the July and August months and as predicted we went out with a bang.
The Thimot sisters

Members  Nicole and Janice

and the other sister member Carmen organized a fantastic and I must say "decadent" array of foods ..
Heating up ... in anticipation for
 Oh yes..the chocolate fountain... wow!
and everyone is ready to indulge.....
in this  "sinful", the other term for decadent.... menu the 3 sisters prepared for us.

On that same line we then have member Elaine who explains to us the next activity that will take place the rest of the evening..
"Strip Poker"
Yes you read it right but ... no no the game is
to play with 2½ " strips
 and we get ready
Member Anna checks out her loot!
Member Charmène racks up a pot...
and lo and behold I even win a pot... but not for long
 Game strategy is discussed
Member  Clara puts in her ante
and there is member Charmène racks it up again .....
my stash is getting low and sure enough the next round  my strips are all gone...
and the strips keep on being passed around
in the end our Junior member Marie-Claude(center) won most of the strips. This is the gal who at the beginning was appalled that her grand-mother Clara was going to play strip poker and did not want to hear about it. She caught on early in the game what was at  stake and that it was not that "Sinful" ; joined in only to end up a winner and happy as she is making a "hexie" project.

A wonderful evening was had by all and we went home with a bit of nostalgia at the thought we were going away for two months.

If you recall in an early post I mentioned Beth from Mrs Puglsey Emporium had given us a beautiful sewing basket?

Well we all wrote our names for  a chance to win it  and

Member  Yvette
  was the lucky winner...
Merci! Beth from all of us and especially member Yvette !

And now we prepare for the

Perfect sewing day

With the thunder moving away from this area and the rain creating a peaceful melody I go off to the sewing room to plug in the machine and in no time I am lost in HSTs.

Words To Live By .. all done :)

How to quilt it is the dilemma now.. machine? hand?

What a successful day... everyone happy to be together and enjoying the friendships that have been formed over the past four years at La Guilde Acadienne de Clare.

 among our visitors
