I did it.......

I have great difficulties staying idle too long and when I am at a meeting I usually find myself doodling. Oh! I do pay attention.....
This was the case a few weeks ago. My mind was drifting towards ... what else??? *quilting* and thinking of my next project ..my doodling shaped into a quilt block.

The results of that block became evident as I put it together using the"Migration" fabric by Holly Taylor . But even at this point I had no vision of the design of the quilt in its entirety... The fabric was not really telling me anything so it was hindering my ability to visualize the finished project.

When in doubt... appliqué.. The tree has always been a great symbol of strength for me and I kept thinking it would fit well with this fabric which depicted nature.

The blocks didn't look like anything when assembled together so good old sashing saved the day...

and voilà .. my very first design....I did it! The name I have given it is:
"Faith in Migration" ....

Now, I have to enlist in the expertise of a mathematician to help me with the writing of this pattern........ uhmmmm I think I know one! DH is ready with the graph paper,
and Agnes will do her magic with her hand quilting.

Oh yes! the fabric did grow on me now that it is all together...
I have to say I have great respect for the designers.. It is not an easy task.

  1. I love it! The border really adds to it's beauty by pushing the design out and the tree softens the angles perfectly. Congrats!!
