2010 Quilt Show

Next week is the Quilt Show and everything appears to be in place ... This is my first year organizing it and I am hopeful I did not forget anything. I am also hoping there will be lots of quilts for the display....

Here are the ones I am putting in the show...
#1 Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend made in a workshop given by our very own Nova Scotian Designer Karen Neary.. (I have registered for another one of Karen's workshop in October..I will blog about it later).
#2 Birchwood Lane House..
made in the Birchwood Lane Fabric by Holly Taylor and the pattern comes from the book by Suzanne McNeil
#3 Molly's Meadow and the fabric is from my stash . The pattern was designed by Kim Diehl for Henry Glass. #4 Vintage Rose was a kit from Harbour Quilt Company in Antigonish N.S. (a gift from my sister) pattern from the "Pattern Basket" #5 Heritage Square...pattern Miss Rosie's and Co.another kit from the Harbour Quilt Company in Antigonish N.S. and another gift from my sister( She knows what I like) #6 Stone Cottage .. the pattern is from Andover Fabric's website and the fabric is "In The Pink 2" by Henry Glass
#7 Blossom Time... this little cutie in the fabric "Birdie" by Me & My Sister is from the book by Pam and Nicky Lintott (as previously posted the fabric) was a gift from Kelly for Miss Émilie...

#8 Rolling Star .. pattern by Whistlepig Creek Productions and the fabric is Cause for the Cure Tradition

So those are my entries to the Quilt Show and what amazes me the most is that all labels on the quilts are dated this year so it was a very productive year ...

It will be a very busy week for me next week but I will try to enter a post on the quilt show and show you lots of those beautiful quilts that will be entered.

Jelly Roll Block #11 for the

Another block in the April Cornell ...Since vacation it has been a bit of a challenge to get back in a routine .. work, sewing, entertaining company and attending community events ....But I did get my runners done, which are to be sold at the quilt show for the fundraiser at church on August 3rd to 6thall made in the Rouenneries...



This was a priority on my list .....

Goals for July/August!

I am a little on the late train to list my July /August goals and priorities for the When I first read about the theme for this month all I could think about was to not set any goals in order to (I don't know why the badge copied black???)

I am a great one for setting goals and making lists and I guess what I need to do is not to be obsessive about the list or the priorities I make. I get very disappointed if the goals are not met according to plan so in fact it does not help me in the self-care department. So here is the list I may be able to accomplish but will be OK if I do not.

1. Add the finishing touches on the table runners I made before vacation.

in the Rouenneries* (these two have to be listed as priorities as they are for the church bazaar on August the 8th )


2. Make my three BOM.. Designer Mystery block, Kansas Troubles BOM and the Jelly roll blocks

#3. is a priority .... I will continue to organize (which I committed to) the Quilt Show, a church fundraiser, taking place August 2nd to 6th and

4. I will continue to spend quality time with my very best friend..

This is not a goal or a priority it is a continuation of a 40 year wonderful commitment... and the ultimate self-care♥♥♥

August is a month full of events in the Tufts family.. all the wedding anniversaries are in August... Ours, and our three children's.....plus there are 4 birthdays and this year DH celebrates a very special one!!!!

So I know I will be busy with these events in August and enjoy the moments as I share them with loved ones!

Getting caught up...

I am slowly catching up on the projects that were waiting for me when I returned home.Block #10 In the "April Cornell" Decadent Victorian.. I think this is my favorite one off all so far. I know.... I know ....I said that before☺....so I guess I like them all

The first Block done♥ ♥ ♥

I am slowly getting back to the grove of things, however I doubt I will be on a regular sewing schedule until the fall. I started back to work today and of course not everyone was on vacation so the e-mails had piled up. I am also organizing the which takes place the first week of August and is a major event in our parish/community. I am donating a few projects which need to be completed, so those items top my to-do list.

♥Home again♥

Arrived home Thursday morning at 3:00 am and have been on slow mode since then. You have to wonder is a vacation all worth it when you get back and have to re-organize? My answer "yes" ..... I recommend Bus/Coach Tours anytime!!!! You just sit and become a tourist; the rest is all taken care of... We rolled over 8778 kilometers (5454 miles) And I sewed my appliqué pieces.... With that many miles to cover I made quite a few pieces... I have way too many for one project but they will not go to waste.. I have another one in mind for the extras.

The highlight of our trip was at the.. Peabody Hotel in Little Rock Arkansas...

We arrived there and in the lobby to meet us was... Michelle....
I was so excited to see her I never thought to give my camera to someone to take a picture of our meeting.. (You only think of those things after the fact ): When I explained to the people travelling with us that Michelle and I were meeting for the first time, they all made the comment that they would have taken a picture of our first meeting. Everyone thought we had known each other all our lives.....(I wonder why? could it be the cries of joy that made them think we knew each other???) and that is how it felt the minute I hugged Michelle. Both Gerald and I will always cherish the moment!!!

The picture maybe blurry but the memory will be forever etched in my mind and the gratitude of meeting Michelle, will stay in my heart for a lifetime. A sewing project with a Nova Scotia touch..... and the I ♥ Nova Scotia bear ........

Gerald was just sooooo excited for me...... he declined the invitation to come with us so we could have "quality time together", he said. Michelle and I took off and she brought me to...

I often read on different blogs that people were going to Jo-ann's for supplies and now I can say I did too.. We spent a good hour browsing and discussing our projects... But there is nothing like good food to bring on the real conversation and Michelle brought me to ....

T.G.I.Fridays for a lovely dinner.... of Cajun Shrimp Chicken Pasta ....Yummy!!!!

We chatted about everything- family, friends, work and of course quilting, all the while learning we had a lot in common and shared the same values...

when we ordered the.. same dessert, (yummy chocolate brownie) I was certain we had known each other forever.... a déja-vu ..

Now you see why it is rated the highlight of my trip? I regretted it was so short in time. But Michelle had a two hour drive back and it was only a one night stop for us.

Of course I was disappointed over the fact that Kelly could not join us ): but as she stated in her post.. life is unpredictable and it is at these moments I am reminded I do not have the controls.

As for our travels we had a very memorable and exciting trip. We were 26 people on the tour and we created a life long friendship with them all.

We visited and saw so many beautiful places it would be impossible to list them all. And we met a lot of wonderful people .. e.g. 9/11 survivors, Katrina survivors. Visited the superdoom in New Orleans where people were housed during the storm and thought of all the pain (and support) that was shared within that structure.

I doubt I will ever forget New Orleans on the 4th of July and the excitement in the French Quarters....on ma! ma!

Like anything there are some places I will not make an effort to go again but glad I went and then there are some I would love to re-visit! (Over time I will share some more photos and highlights of our 14 days in the USA)
