A successful voyage and a safe return....

... home from our Mediterranean cruise with memories of a wonderful experience.
Monte Carlo Monaco

and back to the sewing studio.
I have my Kim Diehl project, Fiddlesticks and Fancies all assembled
 Binding attached
and it is now sandwiched  and in the quitting machine...
I am hoping to have more pictures of  the Kim Diehl projects made by members of the guild on my next post.

Coming right along and a work in progress is
The Rose of Sharon .. machine appliqued.
I say work in progress because every time I take this project out I add to it so I am not certain what the finished project will look like.

 This wall hanging ..
Seasonal Silhouettes by Edyta Sitar for Laundry Basket is all finished and

hanging in the Parish hall where La guild meets every week .

I am slowly getting back to my sewing because as we all know even if we are on vacation our volunteer responsibilities are still active all the time we are away and so I am focusing on getting caught up.

As promised here are a few pictures of the cruise.
I begin with our lovely ship
The Sky Viking Cruise Ship

 Docked in Rome
where we boarded
Grand-daughter Amy relaxing in one of the beautiful parlors
 Lovely entertainment every evening
 Many floors to explore
 The spa

 A reading and lounging  area..
In Pisa Italy
no ... I could not straighten the tower
It is straight for a bit...
This was absolutely amazing. It is the Baptistery in Pisa
next to the Cathedral and the stunning acoustic effect is unbelievable. The notes sung here last so long new notes harmonize with the old ones.  A Baptistery guard demonstrated for us and I could not believe the sound...
The park built by the Royal family, Prince Rainier 111  in Monte Carlo so people could stroll after mass in its beautiful garden... such a peaceful place.

Princess Caroline's  house in Monte Carlo is right across from the  park .
Here I am in front of the Palace in Monte Carlo . Home of Prince Albert 11 son of Prince Rainier 111 and Princess Grace Kelly
Beautiful alters in the Prince's catholic church
 so much beauty
 Amy's (my grand-daughter's) favorite
 Lovely church in Monte Carlo
Pictures do not do justice to the richness of the photos of the saints
Pure elegance for a Princess
and her Grave...Princess Kelly. Fresh flowers are delivered on her grave every week as ordered by her Prince.. Rainier 111
Growing up I often heard my mother speak of Grace Kelly as her favorite actress, so it was fitting mom should gift me with the Grace Kelly collection of paper dolls. Oh! how much fun that was!!! The clothes, the jewels and the Prince.
I spent a lot of fun hours dressing up my Princess Kelly paper doll.
And here lies the Prince besides his lovely Princess.. the grave of Prince Rainier 111

so you can imagine I have many photos... but I guess you had to be there to fully appreciate the journey..
From Rome to Pisa Italy
to Monte Carlo Monaco
to Toulon in France
then Marseille also in France
and onto Barcelona in Spain
will be in my memories forever and sharing it with my grand-daughter made it very special.
Of course there are always favorites and if I pick a place to visit again fully it would be Barcelona...
Clips of Spain with its amazing Roman Catholic Church is  dedicated to Eulalia co patron saint of Barcelona a young virgin who suffered martyrdom during Roman times in the city of Barcelona. One story says that she was exposed naked in the Public square and a miraculous snowfall in mid-spring covered her nudity which enraged the  Romans who then put her in a barrel with knives stuck in it and rolled it down a street. The one now called Baxiada de Santa Eulalia . Her body is entombed in the cathedral's crypt
Second choice would be Marseille.
Beautiful uncomplicated city with gorgeous shopping centers...
I loved Monaco but it is very small and we did a long walking excursion which allowed us to see most of Monte Carlo.

In all the midst of the adventure my sewing was not far from my mind
On the Wednesday I connected with the guild members who were meeting in Saulnierville .NS

and send them pictures of me sewing hexies....in my cabin on the ship before our excursion.

I hope to get back to my UFO's soon but as I mentioned I first have to catch up on all the work that was left idle while I was away.
Life happens and continues on  even when we are idle..

  1. What a marvelous trip! My sister has just spent 2 weeks in Italy, and the history of all of Europe is amazing. So glad you had such a wonderful time, although you didn't invite me.
