1969

For all of you who answered the quiz ....you were right on target to guess: Lordy Lordy looks who's 40 ... Happy Happy 4oth year Kelly.
1969 was a very good year!!! That was year I was married.... When Kelly was born I was decorating our first home for Christmas. From personal experience; as the birthdays are added on it is kind of fun to be considered an "expert".

Top 5 Hits on the charts in 1969

"Whole Lotta Love."...by Zed Zeppilin
"Proud Mary "...by Creedence Clearwater Rivival
"I Want You Back" ... by Jackson 5

"Honky Tonk Women"... by the Rolling Stones
"Bad Moon Rising".....by Creedence Clearwater Revival

An important event besides the birth of a remarkable woman.... Kelly,
... Neil Armstrong walk the first man to walk on the moon

Speaking of birthdays... the tradition in our home since I was a little girl has been to help my mother make homemade doughnuts... Her recipe is the best....
So yesterday in her little" granny" apartment, the tradition continued.

My mother ♥♥♥ who will be 90 years young in January!
Still making her delicious doughnuts

My children have come to know grandma's doughnuts to be part of their Christmas,
so Liette comes to help out...
and voilà... there will be some for everyone........

  1. Proud Mary is a good tune. I like Tina's version. Those donuts look really good!

  2. Oh my! In 1969 I was 15, and I had the 45 of the Creedance Clearwater song "Bad Moon Rising". I kept playing it over and over in my bedroom (and I imagine fairly loud!), and my Dad finally said "if you play that one more time, I'll break it in half"! My Dad wouldn't have hurt anyone or anything, so I imagine I pushed him just a little too far! Hah! A very funny memory of 1969...
You are very lucky to have this family tradition with your mother, and also have your children involved.

  3. I graduated from High School in 1969...yes it was a very good year. Oh I can still sing those songs and not miss a word when I hear them. Good Memories. Oh I love that your mom still makes her donuts...what a wonderful tradition. I'm on my way...a donut and a little coffee...yummy!

  4. 1969...I was 10 years old...wish I could remember clearly that age. I have to comment on mom making donuts and her age...she rocks! I hope mine will have as much spunk. It is doubtful...seriously. She rarely cooks now and never was much of a baker. My mom is only 70! We keep telling her she can do more and she isn't that old...she thinks differently. A shame!
    I'm envious. :-)

  5. Joan, one of our favourite family things to do when Mom comes visit is make doughnuts! We use my Gram's recipe, and everyone gets involved. One rolls, one cuts, one fries, one sugars...and everyone samples! We even have a special doughnut fork passed down from my Gram with long skinny tines that fit nicely in the hole when the doughnuts plump in the hot oil. Yours look scrumptious, your Mom sure knows what she is doing!

  6. Congrats on 40 years of marriage to Gerald this year, and thanks so much for sharing some history of the year I was born (I actually know some of those songs) -- but didn't realize Neil Armstrong walked on the moon that year! I can see why you're such a great woman and have so much energy! It's AWESOME that your mom is still cooking and making family memories!
