December...

No snow here yet..12ºC (54ºF)I am certain they floated Nova Scotia to Florida..

wishing it would be getting a little cooler.. even a light snow so the Christmas lights would shine on it and makes those beautiful colored crystals.
I usually make my fruit cakes earlier than this but a busy schedule did not permit that; so last night was the night and with "Jay's" help to stir...voilà.The smile on his face is not only for the camera... Fruit cake is his favourite of all the Season's treats...It was "fait accompli".......... Cooling off time... I bake it as a slab so it cuts into perfect (not too thick) rectangles rather than slices. Can't you just smell the aroma of the Christmas fruits and lemon extract? (I couldn't because of a head cold and stuffy nose, but I was reassured it smelled d e l c i o u s.
"Jay" does not permit me to age the fruit cake without a taste first.

Busy times and cool or warm weather will not keep the CG from being very productive... Wow! the wonderful December projects that are coming our way. Some lucky people will be getting beautiful gifts.

I hope the Secret Santa(s) are busy getting their gifts ready. Mine is all done and I hope to be packaging it on the week-end. Kelly had made me one of these to match my mini fall quilt swap and she even send me a pattern. I couldn't wait to put one together. Tomorrow my friend, Eva, is coming over to sew and I know she will just love these and will want to make some so I made one for her as a practice round.

Well girls I hope you are having a ball connecting with other Charming Girls. Both Kelly and I have posted the names of the members and hope we will all make an effort to get to know one another more. In the midst of all the excitement of the Christmas season I don't want to forget that there may be some friends who are not as fortunate as I am; to have a loving family or even to have good health. A small act of kindness is the gift I have listed at the top of my list and I plan to share it with the girls who have come to mean a lot to me, my Charming Girl friends . I also want to add other quilter friends who connect with me. Your support means a lot to me♥♥♥

  1. Your cake looks delicious! What a fantstic idea making it as a slab!! I dont think you would like Christmas in Australia - 12 degrees is freexing compared to the 35 plus we have been having every day!
