"They Are Coming to America"

Today we leave ...
I will be celebrating Canada Day; July 1st in America, so to honor our country Gerald and I are bringing some Canadian pins to pass around. On July 4th we will be in New Orleans where many of the Acadians settled there and we are honoring our culture with Acadian Pins .... The bags are packed.... We are all set...I wonder what I forgot to pack? Isn't there always something!!!!!My project for this week was an apron by the Pattern Basket for my sister, Simone, who came to help out in sitting with my mom while we are away.....Simone is a quilter also and loves to dress up in aprons....

This is my last post for a while so until next time "Happy Sewing".
I will have lots to say when I get back and lots to show you...........

Hugs.....

Jelly Roll Block and some update on my travels!!!

Block #9 for thein the April Cornell .... Decadent Victorian

this was a fun and easy block.. it does not take any time at all to make and I was glad because I have limited time left to work on sewing projects ....I will not be able to work on the

until I return from my trip....

Which brings me to the update of our Bus Tour to San Antonio

... It is quite exciting ....Saturday, July 26th the bus leaves from St John New Brunswick so we are crossing on a ferry from Digby Nova Scotia on Friday

Day #1 on to Boston;

Day#2 Washington DC;

Day #3 Knoxville Tennessee;

Day #4 Little Rock Arkansas; This is where the highlight of my trip takes place...this is where history is going to be made .... Kelly and I are meeting for the first time in person and that is not all... Michelle is coming to meet Kelly and I, for the first time also... Now do you think Little Rock will ever be the same? (I am considering calling the authorities in Little Rock to advise them there will be lots noisy chatter but not to be alarmed ....just happy charming girls:))) oh ma ma... This is like Christmas in July!!!! Doesn't get better than that! I know it will be too short a visit ( Ok!Ok! I am greedy!)and I will hate to move on.....

to San Antonio for four days...

return trip brings us to ...
July 4th, New Orleans...

July 5th Charlotte North Carolina....

July 6th.... Danbury Connecticut

and then back to Canada.

Now remember this is all taking place on a bus so I prepared all this......

What a perfect opportunity to get some appliqué done ... and the "Orange Peel" has lots....Some of our friends who are travelling with us are not surprised I will be quilting and they are not quilters....

This is the first thing I organized in the suitcase ... never mind the clothes....

So this may be my last post for a while. I will have my camera and I will take lots of pictures but I am not bringing my laptop so I cannot download the pictures until I get home. I will check my blog and answer comments every evening, once we land at our hotels.

♥Kelly and Michelle ♥....one week from today!

I'm Back..........

Yes! it is back to Nova Scotia.....Thank you so much everyone for your kind comments on the previous post.. My meeting schedule was so that I didn't have time respond but I did read them not once but twice at the least.....

You remember I had packed some pieces for applique???I did get some time to work on these, when I returned to my hotel room...all basted!
I do need a lot more as I think I am going to make a large quilt. I had decided that this project ( Orange Peel) would be a traveling project with no end date in mind. I am using all Kansas Troubles....
I will be bringing this project on my vacation which is soon approaching... A Bus Tour which should allow me to sew for a bit as we travel from one state to the other.
Counting the days....

First of many....

This is my first project out of the book Schnibbles Times 2 and hopefully not my last. Pattern is; "McCuffey" in the Rouenneries.....(small quilt but a little larger than the pattern calls for). I was hoping to quilt it before I posted it but I am running out of time. (As I often say time flies but the good thing is I am the pilot.....)

Not the case tomorrow as I have to fly to Ottawa for meetings and will only return Thursday...
Oh! but wait... I will not go without some hand work to do:))))
I am preparing these appliqué pieces for a quilt I have been putting on my "want to do" list and never getting around to starting it... This is the right time as I have no other "hand work" in my basket....Perfect timing for the "Orange Peel"from the book Remembering Adelia by Kathleen Tracy..I am using all Kansas Troubles left overs.

My schedule for the three days in Ottawa is packed, so I am not taking my laptop with me. I will be relying on the business centre in the hotel to e-mail which means I may not be able to respond to any comments or contacts until I return.... however I hope you will keep me posted with the goings-on in blog land and with all your projects which continuously inspire me:)

A La Prochaine!

Last UFO and BOM

This is the last table topper in my basket made with my Old Primrose Inn scraps.... and my June BOM In the Kansas Winter

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Another project..

from my UFO basket... The fabric for this table topper is "Bella " by Ro Gregg and this one has a plain backing.I have to be true to my words and get these UFO's finished so I can take part in the

This is the fabric I choose..
These two charm packs have been sitting patiently waiting to be used and I think this special project is perfect for Dandelion Girl!.
Unfortunately I may not be able to follow the weekly schedule for this project as I
have a very busy June which takes me away from my sewing, however I will be making
the cute mini quilt and I want to thank Kelly and Darlene for getting this project together for us.

Finishing UFOs

Looking in my UFO basket I decided I would not start another project until it was empty...

As soon as I finish a project I use the leftovers to make table toppers for an upcoming church bazaar this summer and this is one made with the fabric....

"In The Pink 2" by Henry GlassThe inspiration to make the backing with strips of the fabric came from Carol at Carol's Crafty Creations

It makes the table topper reversible!
Thanks Carol!

There are more table toppers to come from the UFO basket!
