I really like how it turned out.. All year, as I was making it , I was not impressed with any of the blocks and now I think I am going to make it again!

You never know until the last stitch is in place!!!!

Four months from now...

I will collect the names of those interested in taking part at the end of September, giving us ample time to make our projects and mail them out in November so everyone can enjoy it in time for the Holiday Season.

Down memory lane

41 years ago! The pictures may be faded a little and many changes have taken place; but the memory is still as beautiful as it was back then and I still look at him with the same look♥♥♥ in spite of all the events taking place and the celebrations, I did get some sewing done on the weekend.. I started the sashing for my BOM quilt "Better By The Dozen ". It is a lot of sewing but I think it's going to give the quilt a nice look . The book gives a variety of different ways to put the quilt together ( with different sashing) enticing you to make another quilt and sashing it differently.

look who's TWO already Miss Émilie! Not certain about the beach...and if you notice she has a wipe because she wants to clean the beach of the gritty sand ...Émilie hates to have unclean surfaces!!!! I wonder if she will still be like that at her 13th birthday? uhmmmm?She has already graduated to assistant engineer for her grand-papa

Her birthday is today but the celebration will only be on Sunday when her Auntie and cousins get home from vacation.

Another Quilt along

of a different kind... This is a "workshop" type quilt along and one I have been looking for for a while now... Thanks to Allie I am trilled to have found this Free Motion Quilt Along... on A few Scraps. Also you can click on the badge on the side bar:)

Why am I so excited? I have been dabbling with stippling my projects for a while now

but I am not advancing any further than meandering and must admit I have a fear of going to the next level of FMQ.
This quilt along is just what I have been looking for to get off the meandering level!

Back in Business

Ok! the books are all out and I am anxiously getting back in the swing of things.

I just loved the Schnibbles Pattern "State Fair" and was contemplating adding a few more rows to make it a big quilt when I found this..

in the Quilters World magazine issue August 2010 and it is pictured in none other than "Kansas Troubles" .
The instructions are for a Layer cake rather than the Charm Pack making it a big quilt.

Between Charming Friends Quilt Along..

is finally finished ..in the Dandelion Fabric I know! I know! you are probably thinking I have reformed to lighter fabric..... Oh! I don't think so.. not used to having projects in light fabric, I had to take two pictures because I didn't think it would come out, the reflection was so bright ...LOL ....

This summer has been very eventful to say the least and I found it very difficult to find the time and spirit to get back to my sewing.

But last week my grand-daughter Laurène, came for a little help in sewing a birthday gift for her sister Ariane and it really inspired me to get back to sewing.

Laurène enrolled in sewing classes last year for the first time and does beautiful work. A sweat shirt for sister Ariane, in her favourite color (Shhhh it's a surprise)!

Even added a hood... perfect for the cool nights when they are out camping....

August 15th is the date designated for the Acadians and many of our Community events end today. Our Acadian festival and celebrations which have been going on for the past three weeks were officially closed this evening.

This also indicates to me a return back to a routine and schedule so I am hoping it will bring me back to my sewing regularly and blogging. I miss my contacts with all you guys and I must say it really shows me how much you inspire me to get projects going.

Anne from Seize the Day has put out a sort of challenge as to what our week was like. I guess this is what mine looked like and I must say it was great to get those UFO's finished but I am anxious to making a new project.

The quilt show was a huge success... and I am extremely grateful for the help I received from the team of volunteers. The tickets on the quilt I donated sold well; bringing in over $3000.00 the winner is ???? to be announced this evening at our Church bazaar...

The show closed at 4:00pm on Friday and then I was off to celebrate a very special birthday...

My hubby turns 65 today! In lieu of all the things happening I decided to keep the celebrations a bit quiet so I booked a room at famous restaurant and had them do the cooking. Yummy!

Gerald comes from a family of 15 children.. and he still has 13 siblings

They could not all come, but a few made it to surprise him.

This summer has been very eventful and there has been a lot of curves in our normal routine. I do hope to get back some normalcy and get back to sewing; always remembering to be grateful for the little things I take for granted...

And not forgetting to be thankful for the gifts God so graciously has given me..
